Gigs 11 -13, Floatalong Festival, 2022.

The Floatalong festival took place for the first time this year across various music venues across Sheffield on Saturday, September 24, 2022. We got to see bands in three of those venues, and so have assumed that each venue counted as three different gigs for this event.

Gig number 11 – Katy J Pearson, playing at The Leadmill. Saturday Setpember 24, 2022.

First up, was Katy J Pearson. Hailing from Bristol, UK, her bio says she wants us to know she’s not a country singer. With a beautiful voice and a talent for storytelling, we would agree, we loved this set!

We did leave a few songs early to fast-foot it over to the next gig…..

Gig number 12 – Los Bitchos and Warmduscher, playing at Network (fka Plug). Saturday September 24, 2022.

What a contrast! First up, Los Bitchos treated us to a set of playful, crazy cumbia-inspired tracks from their latest album, Let the Festivities Begin! The Guardian described this band as ones to watch back in February 2022, and we would agree – we ❤️ Los Bitchos (I even bought the cd….and I may have bought a t-shirt too…)

Next up was Warmduscher – a post-punk band from London. The lead singer sported a white tracksuit and sunglasses through the set, the rest of the band wearing matching white boiler suits, they were a vision to behold! And they didn’t disappoint, their setlist included banging renditions of Fatso and Midnight Dipper (performing here at Glastonbury 2022).

Gig number 13 – Porij at Sidney & Matilda basement. Saturday September 24, 2022.

We finished up the night at a fantastic, new-for-us venue called Sidney & Matilda, with Porij in a basement stage that has a ceiling that’s so low, I (Steph, five-foot nothing) could touch the ceiling! Here’s the playlist:

Porij were a dreamy way to end a fantastic night – perfect!
